Mr Makki has been in the business of collecting and selling some exclusive Indian Zeolites for the past 40 years. The business was started in 1960s by Mr Muhammad Barkatulla Makki (right) also know as Makki Senior who as a naturalist and a true mineral explorer by nature. His two sons Fasi and Mujahid Makki carried senior Makki’s legacy forward and went on to become mineral collectors.

Mr Mujahid Makki is a regular participant at the mineral and gem shows held at Tucson (Arizona- USA), St Marie (France) and Munich (Germany). His work has been cited in renowned magazines such as ‘Mineralogical records’ and ‘Lapidary Journal’ As a quarry owner he has managed and operated the Pashan quarry located in Pune (India) for good 18 years. This particular quarry unearthed the world famous emerald green apophyllite.

Mr Mujahid Makki has the experience and the knowledge of locating the zeolite pockets and extracting specimens from them carefully. He speaks the local language and has a strong network with ‘runners’ (people who regularly engage in scouting minerals).

This plateau which covers an area of approximately 500,000 square kilometres, is almost entirely made up of igneous ballast rock. It is within these cavities found in basalt rock, fine mineral specimens such as mesolite, calcite, apophyllite, stilbite, cavansite, heulandite, chalcedony, pentagonite etc are unearthed.
